Delhi Govt Invites Applications for SC/ST/OBC Scholarships 2025-26: Fresh call for state-level aid to support eligible students amid ongoing academic session.

New Delhi, April, 2026 – The Delhi Government has invited fresh applications for the SC/ST/OBC Scholarships for the academic year 2025-26. The state-level scholarship scheme aims to provide financial assistance to students belonging to the Scheduled Castes, the Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes who are pursuing education in schools, colleges, and professional institutions across the national capital.

The Department of Social Welfare, Government of NCT of Delhi, announced that eligible students can now submit their online applications through the official portal scholarship.delhi.gov.in. The fresh call for applications has been issued to support students amid the ongoing academic session, particularly those who may have missed the earlier deadline or joined institutions later in the year.

Under the scheme, SC/ST students are eligible for full reimbursement of tuition fees, maintenance allowance, and other incidental expenses. OBC students can avail post-matric scholarships covering tuition fees and a monthly allowance based on family income. The scholarship amounts vary from ₹5,000 to ₹25,000 per annum, depending on the course level and category. Special provisions have also been made for students with disabilities within these reserved categories.

Officials urged students and parents to apply at the earliest to avoid last-minute technical issues. “Timely submission will ensure hassle-free processing and disbursement of funds before the end of the current financial year,” a senior official from the Department of Social Welfare stated. Required documents include caste certificate, income proof, Aadhaar card, bank details, and current academic fee receipts.

The move comes as the Delhi Government continues its focus on inclusive education and reducing dropout rates among marginalised communities. Education Minister Atishi has emphasised that no eligible student should be deprived of higher studies due to financial constraints. “These scholarships are a step towards ensuring equity and social justice in our education system,” she remarked in a recent review meeting.

Last year, over 1.2 lakh students benefited from the SC/ST/OBC scholarship schemes in Delhi, with a total disbursement exceeding ₹180 crore. The government expects similar or higher numbers this year, given the increased awareness and simplified online application process.

Students studying in Delhi government schools, aided institutions, and recognised private colleges are encouraged to apply. Hostel residents can claim additional allowances under the scheme. The last date for submission of applications is May 31, 2026. For any queries, students can contact the helpline numbers provided on the scholarship portal.

This fresh invitation for applications reaffirms the Delhi Government’s commitment to empowering students from SC/ST/OBC communities through accessible and timely financial support.
