Telangana Adopts New Education Policy: CM Revanth Announces Cancellation of Class 10 Exams – 10వ పరీక్షలు రద్దు

Hyderabad, March, 2026 – In a bold step towards student-centric reforms, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy today declared the cancellation of Class 10 board exams under the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020 rollout. The decision, effective from the 2026-27 academic year, shifts focus from high-stakes testing to continuous evaluation, easing pressure on over 5 lakh students annually.

Speaking at the Telangana State Education Summit in Hyderabad, CM Revanth emphasised holistic development. “10వ తరగతి పరీక్షలు రద్దు చేస్తున్నాం. No more rote learning or exam terror – we’ll nurture skills, creativity, and well-being,” he said, drawing applause from educators and parents. The policy introduces semester-based assessments with 50% internal marks, projects, and competency tests, aligning with NEP’s multi-dimensional grading.

This mirrors national trends, following Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, but Telangana pioneers AI-driven personalised learning platforms for rural schools. “Our goal: Zero dropouts, 100% skill-ready graduates by 2030,” added Education Minister Sridhar Babu. Budget allocation jumps 20% to ₹25,000 crore, funding digital classrooms and teacher training.

Critics worry about grade inflation, but CM Revanth countered: “Success metrics will track real-world outcomes, not just pass percentages.” Students like Hyderabad’s Priya Reddy welcomed it: “Finally, time for sports and hobbies alongside studies!”

Implementation begins in June 2026, with SCERT overhauling curricula. Parents can access updates via telangana.gov.in/NEP or the T-App Folio portal. This reform positions Telangana as a leader in India’s education transformation.
