Patna, March, 2026: The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) on Sunday, March 29, announced the results of the Class 10 Matric exams, bringing cheers to lakhs of students and families across the state. With an impressive overall pass percentage of 82.91%, over 5.3 lakh students cleared the crucial board exams, paving the way for their academic futures.
The results, declared at a press conference in Patna, highlighted exceptional performances amid stiff competition. Topping the charts was Rahul Kumar from Vaishali district with a perfect 500/500 score, followed closely by Priya Sharma from Patna with 498 marks and third-placer Amit Raj from Muzaffarpur scoring 497. “This is a dream come true,” Rahul said, crediting his success to consistent hard work and family support. The gender parity was notable, with girls outperforming boys in several districts, reflecting Bihar’s push for educational equity.
In a grand gesture to motivate merit, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar unveiled lavish rewards for the toppers. Each of the top three rank holders will receive Rs 2 lakh in cash, a high-end laptop, a bicycle, and a school bag—prizes aimed at fostering excellence. “These incentives are not just rewards; they inspire the next generation to aim higher,” the CM stated during the virtual felicitation ceremony. Additionally, the top 10 scorers get Rs 1 lakh each, while district toppers receive Rs 10,000 and certificates of honour.
The announcement came after a slight delay due to evaluation processes, with results accessible via the official BSEB website (biharboardonline.bihar.gov.in) and SMS services. Students like those from rural areas celebrated with sweets and dances, underscoring the exam’s role as a gateway to opportunities in a state long grappling with educational challenges.
Education Minister Chandrakant Singh praised the board’s digital initiatives, noting a 5% rise in pass rates from last year. However, concerns linger over the 17.09% failure rate, prompting calls for better coaching and infrastructure. As toppers gear up for Class 11, Bihar’s education landscape looks brighter, fueled by ambition and state support.
